Painting is a vast, important and widely applicable field. It’s impossible to overstate the importance of paint; far more than the construction it can easily make or break a design.
In this 8-hour course meant for anyone interested in painting, professional Scenic Painters Lili Payne and Sara Herman will dig into the core skills every painter needs to master. Drawing on decades of experience, our instructors will focus on the ideas, problem-solving and thought process of painting: how to look at what’s in front of you, assess your resources and make practical decisions.
Technique will also be covered as Lili and Sara teach how to recreate commonly used textures and patterns (e.g. faux brick, stonework). Using these to think about the whys of painting, our instructors will teach you skills far more crucial and employable than just a talent for painting a beautiful picture.
Come join these excellent local professionals and widen your skillset and your mind.
All materials will be provided; please dress appropriately for painting: work clothes and shoes that can get dirty and paint-stained, possibly a head covering to keep paint out of your hair.
Normally a $180 cost (Instructors, space rental, materials, insurance), generous funding from the MN State Arts Board via the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment allows us to present this at $80. Scholarships are available- Contact Laura at firstname.lastname@example.org to apply.
