Working Gig to Gig: Freelancing in Theater & Dance

  • Jungle Theatre 2951 Lyndale Avenue South Minneapolis, MN, 55408 United States (map)

In an interview, a British stage technician once described his working life as akin to a “turtle; hiding in my shell until the phone rang and I emerged, blinking, into the darkness, to work furiously alongside old mates… then, the work complete, a retreat back into that shell to await that call anew.”
For the vast numbers of us without “house positions”, this is probably an eerily accurate depiction. Join our panel of freelance designer/technicians as they share their experience, thoughts and advice on working in the industry from a wide variety of perspectives!

Moderated by Robin Gillette

Panelists: Abbee Warmboe (Props/Carpentry/Puppetry), Karin Olson (Lighting), Sonya Berlovitz (Costumes/Hats), Kate Sutton-Johnson (Scenic/Props)
