“A Touch of Dada”-Improvised, Waste-Based Mask and Costume Workshop

  • Bedlam Theatre Design Center 2712 East 27th Street Minneapolis, MN, 55406 United States

Plumbing Christopher Lutter’s gold-mine of collected waste-stream materials, found objects and curiosities, participants will learn methods of construction of costumes, masks and puppeted accessories, in the creation of their very own, over-the-top (or, for that matter, “under-the-bottom”) wearable art-piece.

A strong emphasis is placed upon methods of “following-the-material” in our development of the pieces—with a healthy dose of embracing the nonsensical and absurd.

Pieces will be fully student driven, with Chris providing support in methods of construction and the development of movement mechanical and animation elements, if so desired.

The goal of this workshop is to broaden participants’ knowledge of materials and methods of theatrical art construction.

Workshop will culminate with an optional absurdly-outlandish “masquerade” promenade, through the Farmer’s Market in St Paul’s Lowertown district, on Halloween Day, October 31st.

THIS IS A 3 DAY WORKSHOP
Friday, October 23 7-9PM
Saturday,  October 24 1-4PM
Sunday, October 25 1-4PM

Tickets are $80. Walk-ups will not be accepted as we will need to prepare enough materials for everyone to work with. Registration will close at 11 am on Thursday October 22nd.
